Overview
Recently, I have become aware of the amazingness that many public libraries have to offer. Admittedly, libraries are a place that I have rather seldom visited over my years of life. Now that I have a little child, I’ve branched out a little bit and have been rather shocked to learn how cool and entertaining so many libraries are, with especially unique and fun areas for children. While visiting libraries with a two year old can be tough, it’s also been a great way for us to introduce our daughter, Scout, to playing quietly in indoor spaces.
The abundance of amazing libraries and children’s sections in and around the Phoenix area is phenomenal. There are so many different great ones to visit with the kids and the Tempe Public Library is a prime example.
The children’s section of the Tempe Public Library is located on the bottom floor all by itself. There’s a teen area and an especially phenomenal youth area. A neat Escape sign, allows kids to crawl through it to access the children’s library.
Adjacent to the children’s library is an “explore” play area.
The desert theme perfectly fits the city of Tempe. A Pueblo Playhouse is the main feature here, and includes a kitchen and a play area in which kids can climb inside of.
A learning lab and a neat mini theater with puppets are also part of the play area.
The library hosts lots of cool events for kids, such as storytime, among many other programs. For a full list please visit the Tempe Public Library website.
