Scout’s Story
As our daughter Scouts fight with cancer has continued, it has been increasingly hard at times for us to get outside and allow Scout to enjoy the typical things normal kids get to. After Scout’s most recent chemo treatments and a few stays in the hospital, Scouts blood counts finally began to climb to the point that we felt comfortable taking her to playgrounds again. This was a great day for us as we visited Amy’s Farm in Ontario, followed by a few playgrounds in the Corona area afterwards. Overall, Scout loved the playground and at 20 months old was able to walk the rope swing virtually by herself. She loved the dolphin spring jumpers and her face lit up as she bounced up and down.
Getting to witness Scout walk to the top of a hill and roll her body down it a few times, was a first for us. We are assuming this is something that she learned from a few kids she saw doing it at another park a few days earlier. The city of Corona is filled with great parks. Subsequently, we look forward to coming back and spending some more time in this area. On this same day we learned that Scout was now a candidate for surgery on her germ cell tumors and that we would be moving forward with surgery in the coming weeks. Making these memories means so much to us and we look forward to the many more that the future holds.
