Overview
I cannot state strongly enough, how amazing the city of Temecula is when it comes to the amount of fantastic parks and playgrounds that the community has to choose from. Rotary Park is a smaller park and playground, aimed more towards toddlers, but is yet another unique and fun spot for families to visit. There isn’t much else here, outside of the cool, train themed playground but despite being located near the old train tracks, just down the street from Old Town Temecula, this park somehow emits a peaceful and hidden vibe to it.
While there is a small picnic area, families won’t find much else to do here outside of letting the kids play on the Train playground. However, it’s a great spot for train loving kids and makes for a great stop before or after heading into Old Town Temecula.

Scout’s Story
It is hard to believe that our family is just two weeks away from celebrating our daughter, Scout’s, 3rd birthday, with the following day being a celebration of Scout’s cancer having been in remission for 1 year. In a little over a week, we would be flying to Hawaii to introduce Scout to the place that we consider home, for the first time in her life. We were excited but still had a few free days between now and then, so we decided to make our final trip of the year to Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
Typically, April is the final month that we even consider visiting Anza Borrego, as the heat just gets too extreme after that. Being that Anza Borrego is about a 3 hour drive from us, we prefer to make a few stops along the way. One of our favorite places to stop, now that we have Scout with us, has become the city of Temecula. Temecula is crawling with a plethora of phenomenal, family friendly parks and areas to visit, especially those with kids.
Scout’s Day at Rotary Park
We had an absolutely lovely morning, as the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. After visiting one of our favorite parks in Temecula, Winchester Creek Park, we made our way just down the street to Old Town Temecula. We had such a great time walking the streets and checking out the array of different shops and stores that the “Old Town” area had to offer. We found this area to be an absolute blast.
Eventually, we made a super short detour from the Old Town area, and within a minute or so we had arrived at the train themed Rotary Park. This park is more of a playground and is probably best suited for toddlers. It’s not very big and lacks lawn space, but train loving children will absolutely love it. Scout exited the car, laying eyes on the train play structure and started with her “boop boop” train sounds.
The front of the train, which doubled as a tunnel crawler and the climbing bridge were Scout’s main areas of focus.
My favorite part of our trip to Rotary Park was watching Scout play at the train station and ticket office. Her imagination ran wild as she offered her mom and I fake tickets, while taking our pretend money.
We had a phenomenal time at Rotary Park and although the park is small, it is super cute. After enjoying our morning in Temecula it was finally time to make our way to Anza Borrego.
