Overview

Pioneer Road Park is a Western, Pioneer themed playground with a splash pad and is located in a very nice residential area in Tustin. Irvine Regional Park and the Orange County Zoo are less than a ten minute drive as well as a plethora of other amazing parks and playgrounds. The highlight during the warm summer months is the big splash pad that greets you immediately upon entering the park. This area gets extremely busy and chaotic but kids will have a blast here. A half basketball court sits adjacent to the western themed playground that is highlighted by several wagons that have been made into play structures. A log cabin gazebo area with a chimney lines the back of the playground further setting the western vibe.

Scout’s Story

As our daughter, Scout, turned 13 months old, my wife and I decided to spend the day letting her run through multiple parks in and around the Irvine area. As soon as we arrived at Pioneer Road Park, Scout caught a glimpse of the splash pad and pointed towards it. There were no other kids around and we let her navigate the area as the water shot up and down. Almost immediately the splash pad became insanely crowded.

We decided to move towards the playground to let the other kids enjoy the splash pad without having to watch out for a baby just learning to walk. We enjoyed the playground and let Scout run around and swing in the baby swings for quite some time.

The slides were amazing but Scout still had a ways to go until she would be big enough for them. After making our way over to the small grassy area, we decided to pack up and head for home after a full day of fun. This is without a doubt, a park we will revisit with our daughter and can’t wait for Scout to enjoy the splash pad as she gets older.
