Overview
Pavion Park is one of the many great parks in the Mission Viejo area. The current playground here was installed in 2014 and quickly became a huge hit with the local community. This park is extremely popular and subsequently, can become very crowded (especially on weekends). The main area that attracts kids, is the fort themed playground. This play structure is completely accessible for all kids, featuring numerous winding paths and walkways. There are also multiple other play areas here, all of which differ from what you would typically see on most playgrounds. Hiking trails and spacious lawn areas also add to the enjoyability of this park.

Scout’s Story
Despite all the recent stress, the last few weeks have been a good reprieve for my wife, our daughter Scout, and I. Scout was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, three and a half months ago and has been fighting ever since. The last few months have been incredibly hard and it has become inherently harder to find ways to have Scout do normal kid things. Scout’s last cycle of chemo ended almost exactly one month ago and we are now waiting for Scout to have P.E.T scans at Children’s Hospital in nine days. The P.E.T scans should tell us what is happening with the tumors in Scout’s liver and pelvic area and will dictate Scouts next steps in treatment.
In the meantime, Scouts counts have climbed enough since chemo that we have recently felt comfortable enough to take her to parks and to do some things outside. It has been a bit tough but we are doing our best to get Scout outside to play, while also being very careful about having Scout not be in contact with others. This day would be no different than the days in previous weeks that we visited parks. We would start very early and if we felt there were too many people at our destination, we would merely drive to another spot.
Our second to last stop of the day would be Pavion Park. The park is super spacious and right away, Scout made her way from one end of the playground to the other. Scout’s energy levels are surprisingly high and we ended up spending about an hour at the park. Despite only being 19 months old, the playground was still fairly manageable for Scout on her own. This was a great day to sit back and watch Scout play and develop her motor skills, at yet another unique and beautiful park.
