Overview

Palm View Park is one of the better parks located in West Covina. The park has two, separate, playgrounds for kids to enjoy. The highlight and focal point of the park is, without a doubt, the F-86D Sabre Jet Fighter which kids can climb into and use their imaginations to fly a mission or two. The Sabre Jet located here is an actual jet and has been at Palm View Park since 1961. The F-86D Sabre Jet was a standout fighter jet mostly used in the Korean War.

In addition to the Fighter Jet, the playgrounds here are fantastic and families and kids will surely have a phenomenal time here. The inside of the Fighter Jet is unfortunately, too often used as a dumpster, so please watch your kids and be respectful of where our trash gets thrown.

Scout’s Story

Our daughter, Scout, was now almost exactly 1 month outside of completing her most recent cycle of chemotherapy. Scout at the young age of 18 months old, has been battling stage 4 cancer (Germ Cell Neoplasm) for over 3 months now Scout has come a long way in these past few months and we are very hopeful that she will prevail in this battle. We are currently at a stand still in Scout’s treatment as we await P.E.T scans that have been a little tough to get accomplished so far. However, her blood counts have slowly climbed, and we felt comfortable enough on this day to head outside and to visit a few parks while still doing our best to keep her isolated from others.

Scout’s Day at Palm View Park

As we made our way through the West Covina area, Palm View Park was to be one of our last stops of the day. Palm View Park is a super cute park and as we pulled up, the F-86D Fighter Jet stuck out to us, as it is the focal point of the playground. Scout ran up to it and spent quite some time climbing on and running up and down the wings.

Eventually, we made our way inside the fighter jet, but unfortunately, there was so much trash and spilled drinks, that getting inside just wasn’t an option.

We made our way to the playground but at 18 months old, Scout wasn’t quite ready to navigate the majority of the play structures here. Scout did however ask to get into the Merry go round and her mom and I took turns spinning her as she giggled and screamed with her smile that nearly never seems to go away.

All smiles at Palm View Park

We made a short trip to play on the toddler playground and then retreated to the car to get some snacks. We had a great time at Palm View Park and were just so happy to have Scout get to experience so many different things on this fabulous day.
