Scout’s Story
Our daughter, Scout, was due to return to Childrens Hospital for PET scans to check the progress of her cancerous tumors, after her most recent chemotherapy. Knowing Scout would be fasting and having to wake up at 5 AM for her scans, we decided to get a cheap motel close to the hospital. This would prevent us from having to make a drive the next morning that we knew could take up to two hours and having to wake Scout up at a ridiculous hour. When our room wasn’t quite ready upon arriving, we decided to see if there were any playgrounds nearby. We landed on Maple Park.
Scout spent most of her time in the baby swing to start and then made her way to the slides. The playground was absolutely incredible and perfect for Scout’s current abilities. At 21 months old, Scout has become incredibly independent on the playgrounds and can pretty much run around by herself at this point. Watching Scouts development has been such a delight and we are always impressed by the new things she does. We enjoyed the playground for around an hour and then made our way to our motel for the evening.
Everything went as planned the next morning and the anesthesiologist made getting Scout sedated very easy. She allowed Scout to squirt water from the syringes as she was putting her under, making the process a little easier on my wife (and Scout). The waiting game is back on to see what our next steps will be in Scouts treatment.
