Overview
This rather large, nearly 20 acre Anaheim park, is a great place to spend the day. There is so much to do here and the park offers a little bit of something to keep everyone entertained. Huge, sprawling lawn areas are present throughout the park, with lighted tennis courts and numerous lighted ball fields. A beautiful amphitheater that holds summer events is also present inside the park. The playground is pretty standard but the purple and gold color scheme help it to stand out.
Without a doubt, the highlight of the park is the Kobe and Gianna Bryant “Dream Court”. This fabulous new basketball court was dedicated on May 1, 2022. It honors and carries on the legacies of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gigi Bryant, who tragically passed away in a helicopter accident in 2020. The basketball court pops in the Lakers purple and gold colors. The center court reads “Kobe and Gianna Bryant” with butterflies encircling their names. In addition, a gorgeous butterfly shaped sculpture of Kobe and Gigi sits courtside. The court will be used by the Anaheim Family YMCA, a local youth program and by neighborhood kids.

Scouts Story
Christmas was now just a week away. This has been a really trying year, yet, we were attempting to do everything that we could for our daughter, Scout, to bring some holiday cheer. Scout was now 1 month out from her most recent chemotherapy and her hair was almost entirely gone at this point. On the bright side, her energy levels seemed to be great. Scout is now in her fourth month of battling stage 4 cancer and will undergo PET scans soon to help us understand the next steps in her treatment. The constant visits to the clinic and hospital are something that Scout has become accustomed to but which she still struggles with at times.
On this day we were scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 1 PM. Our goal was to let Scout enjoy her day at a few parks, while keeping her a bit isolated, before heading to the hospital, which was near everything else that we were doing.
Our day started by touring the trains at the Fullerton Train Museum (Scout is obsessed with trains). This went amazingly well, followed by us heading to Pearson park. Scout is now 19 months old and currently is doing amazing managing playgrounds by herself. Surprisingly, on this day we strictly stuck to the Kobe and Gigi basketball court. Scout ran with my baseball and the usual sticks and leaves that she finds and carries around everywhere.

Although we didn’t let Scout play at the playground, we had a great time checking out the basketball court honoring Kobe and Gigi and just watching Scout run.
