Overview
Recently I have become aware of the amazingness that many public libraries have to offer. Admittedly, libraries are a place that I have rather seldom visited over the years of my life. Now that I have a little child, I’ve branched out a little bit and have been rather shocked to learn how cool and entertaining so many libraries are, with especially unique and fun areas for children. While visiting libraries with a two year old can be tough, it’s also been a great way for us to introduce our daughter, Scout, to playing quietly in indoor spaces.
For those with younger kids, looking for a new experience, and interested in getting them out to the library, The James S. Thalman, Chino Hills Public Library will be a welcome site. The entire children’s area is space and solar system themed. A makeshift top of a space shuttle is the focal point of the children’s area.
Inside are tons of buttons and switches for kids to pretend play with and four chairs positioned in a reclining position to look upwards at the solar system on the ceiling that is being projected from a nearby projector (although it was broken when we visited).
Other areas include a mission control center and a space walk station, also with buttons for interactive play for the kids.
The back corner has a nice seating and reading area with couches. Overall, the James S. Thalman Library is a phenomenal library that younger children will have a blast exploring.
