Overview
Hope View Park is an extremely nice and quiet park in the Huntington Beach area. Kids are sure to love the play area as it features 2 phenomenal slides and tons of fun climbing equipment. It is undoubtedly geared towards non toddlers as a large majority of the playground is probably a little advanced for most toddlers. The only downside to Hope View Park is that it lacks a lot of basic amenities that most other parks have. However, it does have plenty of pretty open lawn space and the playground is fantastic. Most families will find this park to be a little gem and a great spot to spend an afternoon.

Scout’s Story
It’s hard to believe, but it has now been almost four months since our daughter, Scout, had her tumor resection surgery and subsequently that her cancer was placed into remission. While we are incredibly grateful to have reached this juncture, we have realized that our lives will never return to what they were. That fear of this horrible disease will always be with us and it’s a daily struggle to minimize those stresses.
Scout is doing great and her only current treatments are blood draws every two months and scans every 6 months to monitor the small portion of the tumor (mature teratoma) that had to be left in her pelvic area. No more chemotherapy, or daily injections or line flushing as Scout’s central line has now been removed as well. As we try to leave the past year behind us, our main goal now is moving forward and allowing Scout to live a happy and healthy life, while making the most of all the moments that are laid out before us.
Scout’s Day at Hope View Park
After spending the morning at Seal Beach, we decided to make the quick drive to Hope View Park to let Scout play for a little bit before getting her home for her nap. Hope View Park is such a cute little park with a very welcoming and quiet vibe. The playground equipment is super fun but Is definitely more geared towards non toddlers. As Scout is barely two, I helped her navigate the playground to reach the slide areas. Probably the coolest part of the park is the huge, blue wave slide. Scout did her best to climb up it, repeatedly failing and sliding down, only to do it again…and again.
Eventually, I put her into the swing before realizing that this was gonna be one of those moments that I dread as a parent of a toddler.
Scout did not want to leave and I had to pry her out of the swing, carrying her flailing body back to the car. Quietly and respectfully leaving places after playing has been something that Scout has done well but that we have been struggling a bit with at times recently. Toddlerhood can be pretty rough at times. Despite the outburst at the end of our day, we had a great afternoon and once again were so grateful for these moments.
