Park Overview
Gardenhill Park is a pretty basic but nice playground with plenty of different, in good condition, play equipment. Separate play areas offer equipment for kids ranging in ages from 2-12. This 6 acre park, located in La Mirada, California, is in a very nice neighborhood which is part of Los Angeles County, although nearly every bordering city is part of Orange County. Besides the nice playground, Gardenhill Park also features 2 tennis courts (lighted), a horseshoe pit and a nice basketball court (full court and lighted) directly next to the play area. My personal favorite part of this park is the grassy lawn area with beautiful trees. Kids will have a blast climbing in the trees and a 65 person amphitheater is located at the bottom of the tree area.
Additionally, a community center sits directly behind the playground and offers many activities for the community. While kids will have a great time here and the park is very cute, my main gripe is how the playground lacks any sort of identity or uniqueness. In fact, it is almost identical to Windermere Park, which is just down the street. For such a great, family oriented city, La Mirada somehow lacks any GREAT play spaces for kids outside of its Regional Park (which is rather standard as well). As a La Mirada resident I’m hopeful that the city will install something a bit more spectacular into one of its parks in the future.
