Overview
While the focal point of Cameron Park is the Community Center that offers an exceptional amount of recreational activities, however, the playground is also a nice little stop for families with younger kids. The playground is located directly across the street from the Community Center and is a pirate ship themed playground. The playground is a ton of fun for children and surely will encourage them to embrace their creative side and imaginations.
While the playground is a lot of fun and the community center is an exceptional outlet for teens and youth, the park can at times be a less than ideal place to hang out as it does attract a lot of homeless and less than savory individuals, at times. Additionally, the local high school and elementary school are located directly across the street from the playground and adjacent from the community center, making for a gathering place for older teens. Overall, this is a fun park that I think is best enjoyed during down hours.
Features

Scout’s Story
Our daughter, Scout, was now almost exactly 1 month outside of completing her most recent cycle of chemotherapy. Scout at the young age of 18 months old, has been battling stage 4 cancer (Germ Cell Neoplasm) for over 3 months now Scout has come a long way in these past few months and we are very hopeful that she will prevail in this battle. We are currently at a stand still in Scout’s treatment as we await P.E.T scans that have been a little tough to get accomplished so far. However, her blood counts have slowly climbed, and we felt comfortable enough on this day to head outside and to visit a few parks while still doing our best to keep her isolated from others.
As it was getting late in the evening, we decided to make Cameron Park our second to last stop before making the long drive home in traffic. Scout hung out and took turns swinging on the tandem swing with her mom and I. Eventually, we decided it would be best to just head to Gladstone Park and then make our way home. This was absolutely the best choice as Gladstone Park was nearly desolate and Cameron Park was swarming with kids and older teenagers and probably wasn’t the best place for Scout to be. This park seems like it could be a lot of fun for kids but is also a little rough around the edges with some of the visitors that hang out here.
