Overview
Big Bear Lake is altogether a great place for families and visitors. A good place to start when visiting is the Big Bear Discovery Center.
Rangers can help inform visitors of what roads may or may not be opened as well as any current fire closures. Outside there is a great play area for children that is made up of tree stumps and other nature related items to make a natural play area for kids.
On the inside of the discovery center there is a ton of interpretive information about the San Bernardino Mountains and the surrounding area, this is directed towards adults and children alike. Kids will enjoy a coloring station and viewing the taxidermy animals that call Big Bear Lake home.
This is a great spot to plan out your day before heading into the mountains.
