Overview
The Yorba Linda Adventure Playground has been known mostly as a summer camp since 1983. In 2023, the Adventure Playground’s renovation was finished and now serves as an incredible imaginative play space for everyone to enjoy. The new look of the Adventure Playground and immensity of it is truly remarkable. Summer camps still occupy the grounds from June through August, making the hours a little funky, but the park still opens to the public for a few hours each evening. Due to the playgrounds popularity, reservations are currently required for all weekend visits.
The Adventure Playground encompasses 2.5 acres, with a focus on interactive and imaginative play. The playground is truly amazing and offers numerous different play areas and things for kids to do ranging from a huge waterslide, to a splash pad, to a phenomenal playground that can only be described as an “adventure playground,” and the scope of it can only truly be understood upon seeing.
In addition, a zipline, whiffle ball field, and a fort play structure (was still under construction as of summer of 2023) are other great areas for kids to enjoy. While the park is extremely popular, it is rather large and the kids disburse to different areas, making it not feel quite as crowded as it really is. Play areas of this magnitude are hard to find and this is truly an area that the community is sure to be proud of and enjoy for countless years to come.

Scout’s Story
With the summer camp in full swing at the Adventure Playground, the current hours had been relegated to 5 PM to dusk. We finally found an evening that worked for us and made the drive to Yorba Linda to check out the Adventure Playground. We arrived a bit before 5 PM and lined up in the growing line of visitors waiting for the playground to open. Our daughter, Scout, is now two and her first stop upon entering would be the spray pad. Surprisingly, there were only a few kids around the spray area for the first ten minutes or so before it picked up, with kids running everywhere, moving from one sprayer to the next.
Scout has been cancer free now for a few months. After her central line was removed from her chest last month, Scout is now free to play in the water as she pleases. This was another great opportunity for us to watch her play in the water as she gets accustomed to once again doing one of her favorite things that she had unfortunately been deprived of for the past year.

The Truly Incredible Treehouse Playground
Eventually, Scout made her way over to the treehouse playground and I decided to climb it with her. Within a matter of minutes, my sandals had slipped off, falling between the cargo net and to the ground. Hard rubber balls encompass the floor of the nets and make walking on them barefoot incredibly uncomfortable. I carried Scout through the areas that she was uncomfortable walking, my feet now throbbing, as we circled the entire structure.
The Adventure Playground is absolutely mind blowing. It is truly magical and kids are sure to get such a unique experience here. I can’t wait to bring Scout back here as she gets older and is physically more capable of navigating the play structures.
