Overview
Recently I have become aware of the amazingness that many public libraries have to offer. Admittedly, libraries are a place that I have rather seldom visited over my years of life. Now that I have a little child, I’ve branched out a little bit and have been rather shocked to learn how cool and entertaining so many libraries are, with especially unique and fun areas for children. While visiting libraries with a two year old can be tough, it’s also been a great way for us to introduce our daughter, Scout, to playing quietly in indoor spaces.
The Huntington Beach Central Library is a perfect example of this. Although the aquarium that once sat outside of the children’s area is no longer there, the children’s area is still phenomenal.
The Huntington Beach Central Library is a sight to behold. It’s massive and beautiful on the inside, with fountains jumping out at those who enter. The children’s area is on the bottom floor, located almost as soon as you enter. There are multiple highlights in this area but the sailing boat that doubles as a play station is one of the main attractions.
In the back of the children’s library is a phenomenal reading area that features a beautiful mural that highlights a forest theme with some play timbers and leaves and sensory toys.
We had an absolute blast here with our daughter, Scout, and with everything else that there is to do in close proximity, The Huntington Beach Central Library is a great spot to check out before exploring the rest of the city, especially for those with younger kids.
