Doheny State Beach Aquarium

Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, California

Hours: Monday-Sunday (10 AM-4 PM)

Overview

While this area in Dana Point is most visited by those wanting to swim and congregate at the beautiful Doheny State Beach, it also offers a small but fun aquarium and interpretive center.

The Aquarium and interpretive center are located just as you enter the park. While the aquarium is free to visit the parking is small and when it’s full visitors while have to park across the street and pay a small parking fee.

The main attraction is a reasonably sized tide pool and touch tank, but there is also five individual tanks in the interpretive center along with mounted animals and wildlife that are inhabitants of Doheny State Beach. There are some good displays and information in the center as well.

While the aquarium and interpretive center are small, young kids should find it fun. If nothing else it makes for a good, quick stop for those visiting Doheny State Beach. There are other great nature center opportunities nearby as well, as the Dana Point Nature Center and Preserve are just up the street.
