Overview

The list of amazing parks in the city of Irvine is endless. The Tree House Playground in Beacon Park is yet another to add to this long list. While the park features an excellent climbing play area for kids 5-12 years old, the big attraction here is the purple colored tree house and slide. Some climbing ropes are present underneath the tree house and concrete log and stump structures add to the nature vibe that the playground is aiming for.

A long, wheelchair accessible ramp leads to the huge purple slide and seating area, before winding its way under the canopy of the tree house. Along the walk to the tree house, sprawling trees are everywhere, creating a fantastical woodsy feel. The tree house doubles as a fort/clubhouse, with multiple colored stools and benches to sit on, which overlook the rest of the park. The setting from here is beautiful in the evening as the tree house and surrounding trees are lit up with hanging sparkling lights. Although the tree house is the focal point of the park, the park offers a lot more as well. Spacious lawns, walking paths, basketball courts, and a community center are among the available amenities at this excellent park.

Scout’s Story

Today presented my wife and I another opportunity to get outside with our daughter, Scout. As Scout has been battling stage 4 cancer for nearly 3 months now, getting outside has currently not always been the easiest thing for us. The plan on this day was to take Scout to a few parks on the way to stay with her grandparents, who were visiting for a few nights. Scout finished her last cycle of chemo on October 30th and our next step is to get P.E.T. scans of her tumors in the following weeks. While we wait for scans to figure out Scout’s next steps in treatment, we are currently spending as much time as possible with her, while enjoying every second of each day.

Scout’s Day at the Treehouse Playground at Beacon Park

We had finally made our way to Irvine and The Tree House Playground at Beacon Park would be our last stop before meeting up and staying with grandma and grandpa for a few days. There wasn’t too much light left in the day and it was getting a bit chilly outside so we bundled Scout up and made our way over to the play structure.

At 18 months old, Scout still isn’t quite big enough for the main playground here. After spending a bit of time swinging at the toddler playground, we spent the rest of our time at the tree house structure. It was super cool and Scout loved running back and forth on the walkway leading to the clubhouse area. Trees and overhanging branches create such a relaxing feel and really make one feel like they are in an actual tree house. After letting Scout go down the slide a few times, it was time for us to pack up and go see grandma and grandpa. What a great day this was.
