Overview
Located in the city of Downey, and less than a 15 minute drive to Knotts Berry Farm, Dennis the Menace Park is a great place to spend the afternoon with the family. There are two rather famous Dennis the Menace Parks. One being in Midland, Texas and the other being in Monterey, California, which is the one most Californians are familiar with. While this version in Downey is not as spectacular as either of those, it is still a cool park worth visiting.
The main attraction of the playground is a castle and small pirate ship. Kids will have a good time here. While there are no ball fields or basketball courts there is a lot of lawn area to run and tons of trees to sit under and relax. There are plenty of spots for picnicking here, with lots of picnic tables. The parking area is secured and locked promptly upon closing each day. My only real gripe about this park would be that it backs up to the main highway and the traffic noise can be a little noisy. Overall, we found this to be a very enjoyable park with a great playground.
